Aqua UV Advantage 2000+ Barb x Barb 15W — Inline UV Sterilizer 75 Gal - Aqua Ultraviolet
Available
Aqua UV Advantage 2000+ Barb x Barb 15 Watt UV Sterilizer — 3/4" Inline UV for Aquariums up to 75 Gallons
The Aqua Ultraviolet Advantage 2000+ Barb x Barb 15 Watt Ultraviolet Sterilizer is the most powerful inline version of the Advantage series, designed for medium-sized marine aquariums, freshwater ponds, and quarantine tanks. Unlike the Hanger model which hangs on the aquarium rim, the Barb x Barb plumbs directly inline with a 3/4" flexible hose, offering a more discreet and permanent installation in the sump or under the cabinet.
The 15-watt germicidal UV lamp provides significantly greater treatment capacity than the 8W model in freshwater (500 gallons vs. 200 gallons) while retaining the same ultra-compact housing. The maximized dwell time provided by the streamlined housing ensures a 99.9% elimination rate of single-celled organisms. Flow rates are calculated at 30,000 µw/cm² at the end of the lamp's life (14 months), so no flow adjustment is necessary throughout the lamp's lifespan. The clear blue cap allows for visual confirmation that the lamp is on without exposure to UV-C rays.

Use in Reef Aquariums
For a reef aquarium with corals and live rock, use this sterilizer at a flow rate corresponding to 30,000 or 45,000 µw/cm² to preserve the planktonic food necessary for corals. The Advantage 2000+ 15W is ideal for reef aquariums up to 75 gallons and quarantine tanks. For optimal installation, place the pump in the sump compartment and connect the 3/4" flexible hose directly to the sterilizer.
Barb x Barb vs Hanger — Which model to choose?
Both Advantage 2000+ 15W models share the same lamp and treatment capacities (75 gallons in saltwater). The difference lies in the connection type and dimensions. The Barb x Barb model (12-1/2" x 2-3/4" x 4") uses 3/4" barbed fittings on both sides for a permanent inline installation with flexible hose. The Hanger model (12-1/2" x 2-3/4" x 5-1/2") uses an outlet hook that hangs on the aquarium rim. The Barb x Barb is more compact in height and preferable for sump installations.
Advantage 2000+ (15W) vs Advantage 2000 (8W) — Barb x Barb Version
Both inline models share the same 3/4" barbed fitting format. The 2000+ 15W treats up to 500 gallons in freshwater (vs 200 gal for the 8W) and 75 gallons in saltwater (vs 70 gal for the 8W). The main difference is in freshwater. In reef saltwater, both models cover similar volumes.
Installation
Install the inline sterilizer after the filter or skimmer for optimal efficiency. Connect a 3/4" flexible hose to each barbed end. The unit is not submersible and is suitable for indoor or outdoor use. Aqua Ultraviolet recommends changing the lamp after 14 months of continuous use and cleaning the quartz sleeve regularly. In saltwater, clean the quartz sleeve more frequently to prevent salt deposits.
Warranty
Limited lifetime warranty on the housing, 1 year on the complete unit, and 12 months prorated on the lamp (quartz sleeve is excluded from warranty).
Included in the box
Housing with 3/4" barbed fittings, transformer, 15W UV lamp, and quartz sleeve — ready to install.
