New Life Spectrum Thera+A Small 60 g jar of 0.5-0.75 mm non-medicated garlic pellets

Thera+A Pellets 0.5 mm — Garlic Food for Small Fish 60 g - New Life Spectrum

$14.99

Available

New Life Spectrum Thera+A Small is a 0.5 to 0.75 mm sinking pellet with added garlic, made for small-mouthed fish.

It is the smallest pellet in the Thera+A line, and it is often the one that was needed from the start: a fish that takes a pellet and spits it out three times is not refusing the food, it cannot swallow it. According to the page published by New Life Spectrum, Thera+A takes the Spectrum Nutrition Formula and adds extra garlic, which the manufacturer links to parasite resistance, immune function and a natural attractant effect — exactly what you want for a small fish that has just arrived and is not eating yet.

Thera+A is not a medicated food. New Life Spectrum presents it as a diet, not a treatment: it replaces neither medication, nor quarantine, nor a veterinarian's advice.

What New Life Spectrum publishes about Thera+A

The Thera+A Small ingredient list opens with krill, squid, wheat flour and fish, along with garlic, fish oil, several algae including kelp and chlorella, ginger and spirulina. New Life Spectrum adds vitamins A, D, E, C, a B complex and minerals. Its high protein and marine omega-3 levels target stressed or newly acquired fish with a reduced appetite.

The ReefSolution tip

My little trick with NLS pellets

To pick the right pellet size, I simply look at the fish's mouth. The pellet should be small enough that it can swallow it easily, without chewing on it or constantly spitting it back out. If a fish takes the pellet and spits it out several times, before assuming it doesn't like the food, simply try a smaller pellet size.

For meals, I also like to alternate between pellets and flakes. Pellets can be the main food, then you give flakes at some meals. It varies the way the fish feed a little, and the food stays available at different spots in the water column.

And yes, my little trick with Vita-Chem also works with sinking pellets. I simply put the portion of pellets in a small container, add a few drops of Vita-Chem, mix, and let it sit for about 1 to 3 minutes before feeding. If I want to prepare several meals in advance, I can also make small portions, put them in a container or a small bag, and freeze them. That way, my portions are ready and I only take out what I need for the meal. No need to let them soak for 20 minutes. The goal is simply to moisten them and let the Vita-Chem penetrate the pellet a little.

And above all, I only prepare small portions. Once a portion is thawed, it goes to the fish — I never refreeze it.

It's a simple little trick, but with marine fish, it's often exactly these little details that make the difference.

Frequently asked questions

My fish spits out the pellets — does it dislike the food?

Usually it is the size, not the taste. Thera+A Small at 0.5 to 0.75 mm is exactly the size to try before concluding that the fish is refusing to eat.

Is Thera+A a medication for fish?

No. Thera+A is a non-medicated food. New Life Spectrum adds extra garlic to it, but the product treats no disease and does not replace quarantine.

Does Thera+A Small come in a size bigger than 60 g?

New Life Spectrum makes the Thera+A line in 60, 80, 150, 300, 600 and 2200 g. We carry the Small in a 60 g jar; write to us if you are looking for another size.
