Per Red Sea's official manuals, every ReefSense probe is digital and stores its calibration in onboard memory: it plugs into any port of a ReefControl Lite or Pro, moves between controllers without recalibrating, and validates over Bluetooth at the sink. Maintenance and lifespan — know this before you buy

Red Sea recommends validating the probe every 2 months with a 460 mV reference solution — not included in the box (manufacturer part R35854, which we can order on request). Like the pH probe, the ORP electrode is a wear item: about 12 months of continuous use, 6-month warranty. A reading that no longer reacts to changes in the tank is the classic end-of-life sign.

Does the ORP probe work on its own?

No — it is a sensor for the ReefControl Lite and Pro controllers. It takes one ReefSense port and its readings display in ReefBeat.

Do I really need an ORP probe?

Not to get started. Redox is an advanced indicator: valuable with ozone or for tracking the overall health of a mature system, but temperature, salinity and pH come first. If you hesitate, start with the salinity probe.

Is the validation solution included?

No. The 2-month validation requires Red Sea's 460 mV solution (part R35854), sold separately — write to us and we will order it.

What is its lifespan?
