Red Sea ReefWave 25 Impeller Set — Ceramic-Tipped Replacement Impellers R35234

The Red Sea ReefWave 25 Impeller Set (part R35234) is the official replacement impeller set for the ReefWave 25 wave pump. Impellers are wear parts excluded from the manufacturer's warranty: when a ceramic tip is damaged or a blade breaks, this set brings the pump back to its original 7,500 L/h (1,980 GPH) output.

Two different impellers, color-coded red and green

The impellers on each side of the motor are not identical: Red Sea color-codes the parts red and green so each side goes back together correctly after maintenance. The manual asks you to check, at every monthly cleaning, that the ceramic impeller tips and the cage bushings are smooth and free from damage.

Impellers rarely break — unless snails and friends get into the pump: keep the snail guards that come with your ReefWave installed. And during an algae problem, watch closely that the pump is running and pushing properly: that is when it clogs the fastest.

My pump is making a buzzing noise — do I need new impellers?

Not necessarily. The official troubleshooting says to first check that no object — snail, gravel, coralline algae — is touching the impeller, then clean the impellers and cages. Replace when a ceramic tip or blade is damaged.

The flow of my ReefWave 25 has dropped a lot — are the impellers done?

The manufacturer explains that the gradual buildup of organics and algae on the blades reduces flow: start with the monthly cleaning (1-hour soak in a 10% bleach solution, then a thorough rinse). If flow does not return after also cleaning the motor and shaft, the wear parts are the cause.

Does the 25 impeller set fit the ReefWave 45?

No — the official spare parts list gives two separate sets: R35234 for the ReefWave 25 and R35245 for the ReefWave 45.
