Reef Casa filter media bags are hand-sewn nylon bags, 2 per pack, made to hold your activated carbon, GFO or any loose media in the filter chamber. The drawstring is sewn right into the bag: pull it, it seals, nothing escapes. Two sizes.

Small or Large

• Small — 10 x 12 cm. Sized for the rear filter chambers of all-in-one nano tanks.
• Large — 25 x 12 cm. For bigger doses of media, or a sump.

Both sizes come 2 bags per pack. Keep one clean while the other works.

Our advice: don't overfill it, and rinse it

These are the two mistakes we see most often with media bags, and both of them cancel out the media you just paid for.

Overfilling. People tend to pack the bag to the brim. A stuffed bag blocks: water stops passing through it.

Not rinsing often enough. This one is sneaky, because you cannot see it happen. As the fabric fouls, it clogs. And water, always taking the easiest path, starts flowing around the bag instead of through it. Your carbon is still sitting there, it still looks fine — but nothing reaches it anymore. It has stopped working, and you have no idea.

Rinse them regularly, based on your tank's load. A clean bag means media that actually works.
