Assembled Mesh Aquarium Lid — Jump Protection Nano or Grande Made in Canada - Reef Casa
Available
The Reef Casa mesh lid arrives fully assembled and drops onto your tank — no cutting, no DIY, no frustration. It keeps your fish in and cats out. Made in Canada, cut to fit Reef Casa aquariums, in two sizes.
Which size fits your tank
- Nano — Pico, Frag Mini, Studio, Cube
- Grande — Tide, Frag Mega, Laguna, La Casa
Your aquarium model decides, not its measurements: each lid is built to sit snug on the tank it matches.
Why mesh over a solid panel
Reef Casa compares mesh directly against polycarbonate and gives it four advantages:
- Better gas exchange — air moves through the screen
- Better heat dissipation — light heat escapes instead of building up
- No condensation — no droplets pooling under the lid
- It will not yellow over time — unlike solid plastic
What a lid actually changes
- Your fish stay in the tank. Not every fish jumps, but Reef Casa names the nano classics that do: dartfish, basslets and certain blennies. For those, a snug lid stops being optional.
- Your snails too. They climb right out and go exploring your living room floor.
- Cats, paws and small hands stay out.
- Less dust and hair landing in the water.
- Less evaporation — your ATO reservoir drains slower, so you top it up less often.
Our advice: buy it before you need it
A lid is something you buy as prevention. Not the morning after you find a fish on the floor — by then it is too late.
Plenty of fish jump, and a nano is especially unforgiving: the tank is small and the surface is close. On a rimless aquarium like the Reef Casa, there is no rim to stop them. A fish tracking the glass follows it all the way up and keeps going.
Clownfish, wrasses and firefish are among the first to do it. If you keep even one of them, we recommend the mesh lid from day one.
The two objections, and the manufacturer's answers
Reef Casa names the two reasons reefers skip a lid, and answers both:
- Mesh cuts light. True. Reef Casa suggests raising light intensity by about 10% to compensate, and points out that very few reefers run a nano light at full intensity — so the headroom is usually already there.
- Salt builds up on the screen. Inevitable, says the manufacturer. A quick rinse on water change day clears it.

Exact dimensions are not published
Reef Casa does not publish millimetre dimensions for its lids — it sells them by aquarium model, because each one is cut for its tank. If you see dimensions quoted somewhere else, they did not come from the manufacturer. If your tank is not a Reef Casa and you want to know whether one of these could work, write to us with your exact outside dimensions and model — we will check rather than leave you guessing.
The Reef Casa tanks these fit
- Reef Casa Cube 15 — 15 gallon all-in-one nano reef. Take the Nano.
- Reef Casa Studio 12 — 12 gallon nano reef, same footprint as the Cube. Take the Nano.
- Reef Casa Laguna 24 — 24 gallon shallow lagoon. Take the Grande.
- Reef Casa La Casa 35 — 35 gallons, the largest in the range. Take the Grande.
The Pico 6 also takes the Nano, and the Tide 12 takes the Grande.

Frequently asked questions
Do I really need a lid on my aquarium?
Depends what you keep. Reef Casa points out that not all fish are jumpers, but that for nano classics — dartfish, basslets, certain blennies — a snug lid stops being optional. It also holds snails in, keeps cats and dust out, and cuts evaporation.
Does a mesh lid block light from my corals?
Some, yes — the manufacturer says so plainly. Its answer: raise your light intensity by about 10%. It notes that very few reefers run a nano light at full intensity, so the headroom you need is usually already available.
Do I have to cut or assemble the lid myself?
No. It arrives fully assembled and cut for the model you pick. No trimming, no build. That is the difference from generic mesh lid kits you put together yourself.
