The Red Sea Reefer Peninsula 350 G3 is a complete 352 L / 93 US gal reef aquarium built to sit in the middle of a room instead of against a wall. The display measures 96 cm long — 37.8" per Red Sea — by 63.5 cm wide by 60 cm tall, with all filtration gathered at one end so the reef reads as what Red Sea calls two long views. It is the only Peninsula in the G3 range that ships without a Euro-brace.

Weight, height and the space it needs

These figures come from the REEFER G3 series manual Red Sea publishes. They appear on no product page, and they are the ones that decide whether the tank fits your home.

• Glass tank alone, to be lifted onto the cabinet: 101 kg — 223 lb
• Height of the cabinet top: 100 cm — 40". Standard REEFER models sit at 86 cm (34"), so the Peninsula stands 14 cm taller.
• Clearance behind the tank: 10 cm — 4" minimum
• Recommended clearance on one side: 60 cm — 24", for access to the back
• Recommended room temperature: 22 °C — 72 °F

Red Sea presents these weights as approximate values in its manual. The 1,213 lb sits on the cabinet footprint, not spread across the room: it is the number to hand a contractor or an inspector if the tank is going on an upper floor. On a basement concrete slab the question does not arise.

The only rimless Peninsula in the range

Red Sea fits its Peninsula tanks with a black Euro-brace across the top — every model except this one. The manufacturer states it plainly: the Euro-brace covers the 500, S-700 and S-950 and excludes the Peninsula 350. In practice the water surface stays completely open across all 96 cm, with no cross bar in your line of sight and nothing in the way when you reach in to move rock or aquascape.

The trade-off is the same as on any open-top saltwater tank: nothing stops a fish that decides to jump. Red Sea builds a framed Aquarium Net Cover for exactly this situation, cut to fit an open-top display.

What is included, and what is not

The Peninsula 350 G3 is sold as a foundation rather than a turnkey system. Red Sea includes the ReefATO+, its smart top-off unit that holds water volume and salinity steady, monitors temperature and detects leaks. The plumbing, the glass sump and the cabinet come with the tank as well.

Not included: lighting, circulation, return pump, protein skimmer and automatic mechanical filtration. Red Sea also sells this exact tank as a fully equipped MAX system, and publishes the hardware it installs itself. That list is the best available reference when you spec your own build:

You are free to build it differently, but this tells you exactly what class of hardware the manufacturer considers right for this water volume.

Two things nobody plans for before delivery day

The ReefATO+ comes with the tank, but its top-off reservoir does not — Red Sea says so word for word in its series manual. You need a supply of RO water in the cabinet or beside it, and that is precisely what the ReefCan is for: a tall, narrow canister that fits wherever floor space is left.

And that water has to come from somewhere. On a 352 L system, water changes and automatic top-off draw RO water every single week. A 100 GPD RO/DI unit makes 380 L — 100 gal a day at home. It is not mandatory, but it pays for itself quickly once you stop hauling jugs.

Sump, ReefGate and side-mounted returns

The 74.6 L sump includes a mechanical filtration compartment — 225 micron filter socks and media cups — that lifts out completely. That is what makes the tank ReefMat-ready: you can move to a fleece roller filter later without modifying the sump. Red Sea advises keeping at least three sets of filter socks in rotation.

On the downflow, every G3 gets the ReefGate, a high-precision gate valve Red Sea developed for fine flow adjustment; the manufacturer describes near-silent operation. On the return side, the Peninsula uses dedicated piping with two curved side-mounted return outlets designed to carry flow all the way to the far end of the tank, which matters on a display this long.

One practical detail that gets overlooked: the cabinet doors mount on either the left or the right, whichever gives you better access to the sump once the tank is in place.

Our advice

"The Reefer is a product I like. I keep several in the store, I run a MAX Nano XXL at home and, more recently, a Reefer 525 G3. To me the Peninsula is the pinnacle: you put it between the dining room and the living room, one end against the wall, and the tank is visible from three sides. That is a real room divider, and a beautiful piece to have in your home.

Now, who I steer away from it. People look at 352 L and think big aquarium. It is a big volume, yes — but it is still 96 cm long. If your goal is large fish, a longer tank will serve you better than a deeper one. Volume does not replace length for a fish that needs to swim.

And this is not a tank that goes against a wall. Push it up against one and you are paying for the second viewing side without using it — buy a standard Reefer instead and keep the difference.

About the open top: yes, fish can jump. That is true of every brand, it is not a Red Sea flaw. It is exactly why a net cover made for these tanks exists. If you keep jumpers, order it at the same time as the tank. Do not buy it after you have found one on the floor.

Here is what you need to know before you click: the 350 is heavy. It takes two people minimum and it arrives in a wooden crate. Freight moves LTL, which means the truck drops the crate outside and that is where the delivery ends. It does not include carrying the aquarium into the house or setting it up, so you need to have the labour on site the day it arrives.

Frequently asked questions

How many gallons is the Peninsula 350 G3, exactly?

It depends which number you count, and that is why some listings say 73 gallons and others say 93. Red Sea publishes 93 US gal for the complete system, meaning display plus sump: 352 L. The display tank on its own holds 278 L, and that is the volume the official distribution network lists as 73.4 US gal. Both figures are correct; they simply measure different things.

Can my floor take the Peninsula 350 G3?

Red Sea states 550 kg (1,213 lb) for the complete system once filled. That is the number to give a contractor or an inspector if you are installing it on an upper floor of a wood-framed house. On a concrete slab the question does not arise.

How many people does it take to set up?

The glass tank alone weighs 101 kg (223 lb) according to Red Sea, and it has to be lifted onto the already-assembled cabinet. The manufacturer asks that you make sure you have the right number of people for the weight and size, and that the system is never moved once filled with water.

How much room does it take up?

Red Sea lists the Peninsula 350 G3 at 37.8", or 96 cm. Total system height including the cabinet is 160 cm (63") excluding the light unit, and the tank is 63.5 cm (25") wide. Allow 10 cm of clearance behind and 60 cm on one side for access to the back of the tank.

Does the Peninsula 350 have a Euro-brace?

No. It is the only Peninsula G3 without one — Red Sea explicitly excludes the 350 from that feature. The 500, S-700 and S-950 all have it.

What comes in the box?

The 15 mm (0.6") ultra-clear glass display, the 74.6 L (19.7 gal) glass sump, the plumbing with the ReefGate valve, the marine-spec cabinet and the ReefATO+ system. Lighting, circulation, return pump, skimmer, ReefMat and the ReefATO+ top-off reservoir are sold separately.

Can I put it against a wall?

Red Sea designs the Peninsula as a room divider with two long views and filtration at one end. The cabinet takes its doors on either side, so you can orient sump access to suit wherever the tank ends up. Against a wall, you lose half of what makes the format worth paying for.
