Red Sea Grounding Probe — Dissipates Stray Voltage in Your Reef Aquarium Water

$51.99

Available

The Red Sea Grounding Probe is the simplest protection in the ReefControl range: submerged in the sump and connected to ground, it dissipates the stray voltage that submerged equipment — heaters, pumps, wavemakers — can leak into the water. Those leakage currents are invisible, but an aquarium full of electrical gear produces them sooner or later: the probe gives them a safe way out.

Why ground your aquarium

A submerged device with aging insulation can let stray voltage into the water. At low levels it will not trip the breaker — but it stays in the tank. The grounding probe routes those voltages to the building's ground, plain and simple. It is passive protection: no electronics, no settings, no maintenance — install it and forget it. It completes the leak detector on the safety side of the ReefControl ecosystem.

Warranty

The probe carries Red Sea's standard 24-month warranty — no measuring electrode, no wear parts.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a ReefControl controller to use it?

No — it is a passive protection that connects to ground. It belongs to the ReefControl range, but it protects any aquarium.

How do I know if my tank has stray voltage?

The classic sign: a tingling at your fingertips in the water, or stressed fish and corals with no apparent cause. When in doubt, the probe costs less than an electrician's visit — and it fixes the problem at the same time.

Where does it install?

In the sump, where water circulates constantly. See the Red Sea manual for the ground connection.
