Salifert Trace Hard 500 ml — trace element blend for SPS reefs

The Salifert Trace Hard 500 ml is a concentrated blend of trace elements formulated to support hard coral SPS growth and colour on reef aquariums. The formula delivers the mineral traces consumed by active calcification (iron, manganese, zinc, cobalt, molybdenum...) — the same elements continuously stripped by protein skimming and activated carbon on ULNS tanks.

What Trace Hard brings to an SPS reef

  • Balanced blend of trace elements essential to SPS calcification.
  • Boosts the vivid colours of Acropora, Montipora and other SPS.
  • Replaces the trace elements mature SPS reefs burn through.
  • Salifert formulation: precise dosing, no useless or harmful compounds.

Salifert dosing guidelines

  • Salifert official: 5 mL per 100 L (25 US gal) once weekly.
  • If combined with Salifert Trace Soft in the same tank, total (Trace Hard + Trace Soft) must not exceed 10 mL per 100 L weekly.
  • Shake well before use.
  • Dose in a high-flow area.
  • Use alongside Ca/KH/Mg additives for a complete reef system.

Frequently asked questions

When should I start using Salifert Trace Hard on a reef aquarium?

On a mature tank (6 months and up) with actively growing SPS — not at start-up, before trace element consumption becomes significant.

Does Trace Hard replace an ICP test?

No — Trace Hard covers average needs; periodic ICP tests remain the best way to spot specific deficiencies.

Can I overdose Salifert Trace Hard?

Yes — stick to 1 ml / 100 L / day. Overdosing leads to abnormal colours and can trigger algae blooms.
