COMPACT AND INNOVATIVE DESIGN
AquaMaxx protein skimmers were designed from the ground up with the hobbyist in mind. The AquaMaxx Bullet HOB Protein Skimmer features an advanced internal flow design to efficiently mix air and water, extracting the maximum amount of protein. Noise is minimized by the built-in air silencer and silicone noise dampers, and the smooth bullet-shaped body and transparent chamber allow for easy cleaning and maintenance. High quality cell cast acrylic is used throughout construction for maximum durability, assembled with precision by experienced craftsmen to produce a top notch product at a very affordable price.

PERFORMANCE
The Bullet HOB is equipped with a high performance SHARK pump: an improved Italian-made Sicce pump. Each Sicce pump motor block is modified and equipped with exclusive AquaMaxx needle wheels, which increases performance far beyond that of a stock pump. The improved AquaMaxx SHARK pump is capable of drawing in and mincing significantly more air, providing the optimal bubble size for protein extraction. Built-up protein and organic matter will be vigorously removed from your aquarium so you can focus less on maintenance and more on enjoying your piece of reef.

What aquarium size can the Aquamaxx Bullet 2 handle?

The Bullet 2 HOB handles up to 50 gallons with a light bioload (few fish, LPS corals) and 30 gallons with a heavy bioload (many fish, SPS). It hangs on the back of the aquarium without taking up internal space — ideal for a nano reef without a sump.

Do I need to break in a new Aquamaxx skimmer?

Yes — like all quality skimmers, plan 1 to 2 weeks of break-in before getting the ideal dry, concentrated foam. Set the air valve at mid-position on startup, then adjust gradually. Initial microbubbling clears once residual oils from the Sicce Shark 0.5 pump dissipate.

Can I use the Bullet 2 on a freshwater aquarium?

No — protein skimmers only work in saltwater. The air/water separation that creates the foam depends on salinity (surface tension). In freshwater, an AquaClear HOB filter or Eheim canister is a better fit.
