Unique Behavior

Wrasse bury themselves in the sand to sleep at night. They create a mucus cocoon for protection. Male Fairy and Flasher Wrasse wrasses perform spectacular displays with their fins spread wide to impress the females.

Maintenance Requirements

• Minimum aquarium size - 30-75 gallons depending on the species
• Sand bed - 2-3 inches deep for burying
• Airtight lid - The wrasse pop out easily
• Food - Mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, copepods, pellets
• Compatibility - Avoid keeping multiple males of the same species

Advice

Acclimate slowly over 1-2 hours. Feed 2-3 times a day. Wrasses are excellent for naturally controlling flatworms and pyramidellid snails that attack corals. A lid is essential as they jump!
