AquaticLife Twist-In — 5-Micron Sediment Replacement Cartridge Stage 1 RO/DI Aquarium

The AquaticLife Twist-In 5-Micron Sediment Cartridge is the stage 1 replacement for AquaticLife's Twist-In RO/DI systems. It captures sand, silt, rust and solid particles before the water reaches the carbon block, RO membrane and DI resin. It is the first line of defense that protects downstream stages and extends the life of the membrane - the most expensive part of the system.

It does NOT work with other AquaticLife systems: not the Classic RO/DI (which uses standard 10-inch screw-in cartridges), and not the RO Buddie (which uses proprietary 330249/330250/330242 cartridges).

Replacement Frequency

AquaticLife recommends replacing the sediment cartridge every 3 to 6 months or after about 2,500 gallons of water treated, whichever comes first. Incoming water with a high sediment load shortens cartridge life. The translucent housing lets you visually check for fouling.

How often should the Twist-In sediment cartridge be replaced?

AquaticLife recommends replacing it every 3 to 6 months or after 2,500 gallons of water treated, whichever comes first. A translucent housing turning dark is a visual sign that it's time to swap.

Does cartridge 330377 fit the Classic RO/DI or the RO Buddie?

No. AquaticLife states it is compatible only with Twist-In systems (models 540370, 540371, 540372, 540346). The Classic uses standard 10-inch screw-in cartridges and the RO Buddie uses its own proprietary cartridges.

Can the sediment cartridge be rinsed and reused?

No. Trapped particles are embedded in the spun polypropylene structure and cannot be flushed out by rinsing. Backwashing could even release contaminants into the product water. Replace it entirely.

What happens if I do not replace the sediment cartridge on time?

A saturated cartridge reduces flow and increases the particle load reaching the carbon and RO membrane. The membrane, more expensive, clogs prematurely. An upstream RO pressure gauge helps anticipate replacement.
