AquaticLife Twist-In — 100 GPD TFC RO Membrane Stage 3 Replacement 98% TDS Rejection RO/DI
Available
The AquaticLife Twist-In 100 GPD RO Membrane is the stage 3 replacement for AquaticLife's Twist-In RO/DI systems. Built from TFC (Thin Film Composite) polyamide with a negative charge, it reduces Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) by up to 98% and rejects impurities down to 1/10,000 of a micron: arsenic, lead, copper, parasitic cysts and other heavy metals. It is the heart of the system - without it, no real water purification. It produces up to 100 US gallons (378 L) of purified water per day under the manufacturer's optimal conditions.
Twist-In Installation Video (Official AquaticLife Channel)
The following video from the official AquaticLife YouTube channel shows how to install Twist-In cartridges in a quarter turn, without any tool.
Technical Specifications
- Technology: TFC (Thin Film Composite) polyamide membrane, negatively charged.
- Rated output: 100 GPD (378 L/day) at 65 psi and 25 degrees C.
- Filtration: reduces impurities down to 1/10,000 of a micron.
- TDS rejection rate: 97% typical, up to 98% under optimal conditions (per AquaticLife).
- Removes: arsenic, lead, copper, parasitic cysts, heavy metals, residual TDS.
- Triple sealed: 3 pre-installed o-rings for leak-free operation.
- Twist-In format: quarter-turn install, no tools.
- AquaticLife item: 330375.
Strict Compatibility (AquaticLife Recommendation)
This membrane is designed exclusively for AquaticLife Twist-In systems, which are:
- 540371 - Twist-In 100 GPD 4-Stage RO/DI
- 540346 - Twist-In 100 GPD 3-Stage RO
It does NOT work with:
- Twist-In 75 GPD systems (540370, 540372), which use a different 75 GPD membrane.
- The Classic RO/DI or the RO Buddie - these systems use a separate standard 100 GPD membrane (Item 330093), a distinct product with an 11-3/4 in. screw-in format.
Operating Conditions
- Minimum water pressure: 35 psi.
- Suggested pressure: 65 psi.
- Maximum pressure: 80 psi.
- Optimal water temperature: 25 degrees C (77 degrees F).
Replacement Frequency
AquaticLife recommends replacing the RO membrane every 1 to 2 years depending on source water quality and volume produced. The best indicator remains the rejection rate measured with a TDS meter: compare the TDS of the inlet water with the TDS at the membrane outlet. A significant drop in this ratio signals a membrane at the end of its life, even before the DI resin runs out prematurely.
Monitor Membrane Performance with a TDS Meter
A TDS meter is the essential tool for monitoring the health of an RO membrane. The principle: measure the TDS of inlet water (before the membrane) and outlet water (after the membrane), then calculate the rejection rate. A new membrane should reject 97-98% of TDS. A progressive drop in rejection rate indicates a declining membrane. A triple in-line monitor like the HM Digital TRM-1 displays source, RO outlet and DI outlet TDS at the same time, so you can see each stage's performance at a glance without any water handling. A TDS meter also prevents wasting DI resin compensating for an already dead membrane.
Real Output vs Rated Output
The 100 GPD flow rate is measured by the manufacturer at 65 psi and 25 degrees C. Under actual home conditions (often 40-50 psi, cold water 10-15 degrees C), output can drop to 40-60 GPD. To restore full production, a Smart Buddie 200 GPD booster pump can be installed upstream; it also improves rejection rate and extends membrane life.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the real lifespan of a Twist-In 100 GPD RO membrane?
AquaticLife recommends replacement every 1 to 2 years. With sediment and carbon prefilters replaced every 6 months, a membrane can reach 2 years. Without properly maintained prefilters (residual chlorine, sediment), it can degrade in a few months.
How do I know when to replace the RO membrane?
A TDS meter is the best indicator. Compare tap water TDS with the TDS at the membrane outlet (before the DI resin). A clear drop in rejection rate signals end of life, even if the DI resin compensates for a while.
Is 100 GPD output realistic at home?
That is the rated value at 65 psi and 25 degrees C. At typical home pressure (40-50 psi) with cold water, real output is closer to 40-60 GPD. A Smart Buddie 200 GPD booster pump compensates for low pressure and restores rated output.
Does membrane 330375 work with the Classic or the RO Buddie?
No. The 330375 uses AquaticLife's proprietary Twist-In format, for models 540371 and 540346. For Classic or RO Buddie systems, AquaticLife sells a separate standard 100 GPD membrane (Item 330093) in the 11-3/4 in. screw-in format.
