The Aiptasia Eating Filefish, also known as Bristletail Filefish, Matted Leatherjacket, or Tomentosus Filefish, is a fantastic natural solution for controlling Aiptasia anemones. Its mottled green, brown, and tan coloration provides excellent camouflage.
🔹 Compatibility & Behavior
• Shy fish, rarely aggressive except towards its own species.
• Best suited for 30-gallon (115L) aquariums or larger.
• Not reef-safe: May nip at soft and stony corals as well as small invertebrates.
🔹 Usefulness in Aquariums
• Naturally eats Aiptasia, making it ideal for pest control.
• May nip at corals and invertebrates, not recommended for reef tanks.
🔹 Diet & Feeding
A balanced and varied diet is essential:
✔ Shaved shrimp, mysis shrimp
✔ Squid, scallop
✔ Freeze-dried krill soaked in vitamins
✔ Frozen marine algae
