Seachem Clarity 100 mL — Water Clarifier for Reef and Freshwater Aquariums
Available
Seachem Clarity 100 mL is the only clarifier on the market that addresses all types of turbidity in a single product—bacterial turbidity (bacterial bloom), particulate turbidity (substrate dust, suspended detritus), and chemical turbidity (mineral precipitation). It is compatible with reef, freshwater, plants, invertebrates, and corals. The 100 mL size is perfect for occasional use in nano aquariums or quarantine tanks.
How does flocculation work?
Clarity uses an advanced polymeric flocculant that works in two stages. Upon introduction into the water, it binds to microscopic particles invisible to the naked eye, forcing them to clump together into larger aggregates. These aggregates then become visible—the water appears temporarily cloudier, which is perfectly normal and a sign that the product is working . Within 1 to 2 hours, mechanical filtration (filter cotton, fine foam) captures these aggregated clumps, and the water quickly clears.
Important note: Clarity requires active mechanical filtration to be effective — polyfill wadding or fine foam in the filter. Without mechanical filtration, the agglomerated particles remain suspended.
One Product for All Types of Turbidity
- Bacterial bloom: milky or greenish water caused by bacterial proliferation during cycling or a biological imbalance
- Particulate matter: sand or substrate dust after installation, fine suspended debris, floating organic matter
- Chemical disturbance: mineral precipitation visible as a whitish film — common after calcium/alkalinity supplement dosage
Seachem Official Usage Protocol
- Dosage: 5 mL (1 capful) per 80 litres
- Frequency: can be redosed every 24 hours if necessary
- Prerequisite: having cotton wool or fine foam in the filter — change the cotton wool when it becomes clogged during treatment
- After particulate or chemical treatment: clean the cotton wool or cartridge once the water has cleared.
- Persistent turbidity: if the water does not clear after 24 hours, check the quality of the mechanical filtration — insufficient filtration, not the product.
- Storage: no expiration date — lasts indefinitely
Clarity vs. Pristine — Two Different Products
Clarity is a chemical flocculant—fast-acting (1–2 hours), it treats visible turbidity. Pristine is a bacterial conditioner—slow-acting, it breaks down organic matter at the source. The two are complementary: Clarity for immediate results, Pristine to prevent organic relapse.
Yield of the 100 mL format
