SUBSTRATpro is made of beaded sintered glass. Its spherical shape gives it a high bulk density. This allows the entire volume of the filter (basket or module) to be utilized. In addition, the optimal surface area of the beads ensures intensive colonization of bacteria essential for purification. Thanks to the high bacterial concentration, nitrite peaks are more easily reduced and filter material maintenance intervals are extended.

Advice :
Never clean or replace all filter media at once (and never clean too vigorously). Bacterial cultures must not be completely destroyed, otherwise recolonization will be delayed. The filter baskets of external filters and the filter modules of Aquaball and Biopower internal filters are ideal for partial cleaning.
