MITHRAX SCULPTUS (Emerald Crab)
Available
The Emerald Crab ( Mithrax sculptus ) is one of the most effective algae-controlling invertebrates in reef aquariums. Its dark green to olive-green carapace and broad, flattened claws make it easily identifiable. Native to the Caribbean, it specializes in fighting resistant algae.
His role in the baccalaureate
The only cleaner capable of efficiently consuming Bryopsis —a green, feathery algae that is extremely difficult to eliminate. It methodically scrapes rocks in areas inaccessible to snails and sea urchins. It also consumes leftover food between the rocks.
