Paracheilinus mccoskeri , commonly known as McCosker's flasher wrasse , is a spectacular small reef wrasse belonging to the Labridae family.

Highly valued in marine aquariums for:

  • Its intense red-orange colors

  • Its electric blue lines

  • Its elongated dorsal fins

  • Its luminous courtship displays ("flashing")

Native to the Indo-Pacific (East Africa, Maldives, Sri Lanka), it lives above coral reefs, often in small groups.

The male develops brighter colours and performs impressive displays, particularly in the presence of females or other males.

Behavior in a reef aquarium
