The black-spotted triggerfish, also known as the black-bellied triggerfish or Sufflamen bursa, is also known as Rhinecanthus verrucosus. It has a face that is half white and half yellow, adorned with a thin mustache and a colorful mask around its eyes. A large, circular black area on its abdomen is another distinctive feature.
It requires an aquarium of at least 475 liters (125 gallons) with rocks and hiding places. It will readily rearrange the decor and the placement of the rocks. Its call is a grunt.
The Bursa triggerfish needs a varied diet consisting of meaty foods, such as squid, krill, clams, small fish and hard-shelled shrimp, in order to wear down its continuously growing teeth.
Approximate size when purchased: Small: 2.5 to 5 cm (1 to 2 inches); Medium: 5 to 7.5 cm (2 to 3 inches); Large: 7.5 to 10 cm (3 to 4 inches).
