Flame Scallop
Indisponible
The Flame Scallop ( Lima scabra ), also called the File Clam or Rough File Shell, is a spectacular bivalve mollusk from the Caribbean, easily recognizable by its bright red tentacles that protrude between its two ridged white valves. When it moves by flapping its tentacles, it is one of the most visually dramatic invertebrates in marine aquariums. It can swim briefly by snapping its valves shut to escape predators.
Difficult species: The Flame Scallop is known to be very difficult to keep long-term in captivity—most specimens perish within weeks to months without proper, specific care. Reserved for experienced aquarists.
