Golden Nugget Wrasse (xenojulis margaritaceus)
Main features
Appearance: Varies by sex, but generally reddish/beige with pearly spots; males have more intense green and red markings on the head and yellow irises.
Size: Reaches approximately 10 cm.
Habitat: It is found on coral reefs in the Western Pacific, at depths ranging from shallow to medium.
Behavior: Active, curious and lively fish; buries itself in the sand when stressed or sleeping.
Diet: Carnivorous, it feeds on small invertebrates; it can also play the role of a cleaner fish.
Aquarium care
Aquarium volume: Minimum 190 liters.
Environment: Requires a well-established reef aquarium with plenty of live rock for hiding and feeding.
Compatibility: Generally peaceful and safe for reefs, but care should be taken with fragile invertebrates; keep with other peaceful fish.
Lid: A tight-fitting lid is essential because it can pop off.
