Hikari Bio-Pure frozen Cyclopod+ is Oithona similis copepods in 1.75 oz (50 g) mini cubes. It is the only product in Hikari's frozen range whose feeding instructions are written for a reef tank, with an actual number attached.

The reef dose, in numbers

Hikari is specific here, which is rare on frozen food:

• One cube daily for every 50 US gal (189 L) of water in your reef aquarium, to promote filter feeder growth and extension.
• A pipette for target feeding the corals that need extra nutrition — the manufacturer recommends it itself.
• For fry: the amount they finish within 40 seconds, up to ten times a day.

One cube per 50 US gal means a 20 US gal (76 L) nano does not need a whole cube. That is exactly the kind of detail that separates feeding your corals from feeding your nitrates.

Why corals take it
