Nuclear Palythoa – Explosive Yellow Sun Polyp
It’s hard to remain indifferent to the Nuclear Palythoa. This iconic morph in the reef hobby displays a vibrant chartreuse yellow—almost radioactive—with bright green tentacles that encircle each polyp like a luminous crown. In a dense colony, the effect is striking: a carpet of yellow suns that instantly brightens any reef aquarium, even under standard lighting.
Characteristics
- Color: Intense chartreuse yellow oral disc, fluorescent bright green tentacles
- Shape: Well-developed round polyps, typical of Palythoa
- Growth: Colonial – spreads rapidly over substrate and rocks
- Fluorescence: High, particularly visible under blue/actinic lighting

- Difficulty Level: Beginner – very robust, fast growth
Placement
Place this Palythoa on the substrate or on a low rock, in an area with moderate flow. It quickly colonizes its environment and can be easily fragged. Avoid direct contact with other aggressive corals and give it space to grow.
