Super Orange tube anemone

The Orange Tube Anemone ( Cerianthus sp.) is a ceriantharian—not a true anemone—that lives in a membranous tube buried in the sandy substrate. Its double crown of bright orange tentacles creates a mesmerizing visual effect. Not reef-safe —tentacles are extremely stinging.

Requirements

• Deep sandy substrate required — minimum 15–20 cm
• Lighting: low to moderate — 50–150 PAR
• Water flow: very low to moderate
• Temperature: 24–27°C — Salinity: 1.023–1.026
• pH: 7.8–8.4 (normal natural day/night fluctuation in a reef tank)
• Fowler tank (without corals) recommended

Behavior

Primarily nocturnal. Extends its tentacles at night to capture plankton. Never remove from its tube — fatal.

Food

Feed 2–3 times per week with frozen brine shrimp or fine planktonic food.
