pH Up is a liquid product for freshwater aquariums that raises the pH. By neutralizing acidic substances in the aquarium, pH Up makes the water more alkaline. The pH may return to its original level depending on the acidity level of the aquarium. Several consecutive treatments with pH Up may be necessary to adjust the pH to the desired level, but if the aquarium contains fish, the pH should not vary by more than 0.2 in 24 hours. If many aquarium fish live in water with a pH between 6.8 and 7.5, a pH of 7 is ideal for a community tank housing a wide variety of freshwater fish. The correct pH will improve the health, disease resistance, coloration, and reproduction of the fish.
