The AI Hydra Flex Arm 18 in is the simplest, cleanest mount for your AquaIllumination Hydra 32HD fixture. A flexible 45.7 cm gooseneck, silicone-coated, that bends exactly where you want it and stays there. No rail, no ceiling suspension, no drilling.

Rimmed or rimless

The clamp assembly attaches to the glass, with or without a rim. It's the most flexible mount in the AquaIllumination range for both tank types — the arm swivels in its mount, letting you position the fixture exactly over the area you want to light.

Wire-management clips are included. The fixture's cord follows the arm instead of hanging in your line of sight.

Installation

AquaIllumination's official procedure is 6 steps and needs no specialized tools:

1. Remove the fan cover from your Hydra by pulling up
2. Slide the back plate into the heatsink, lining up the holes with those in the middle of the heatsink
3. Insert the screws, making sure they go into the back plate, tighten, then reinsert the fan cover
4. Place the clamp assembly onto the tank and tighten securely
5. Insert the flex arm into the arm mount hole and tighten the set screw with the included 3/32 allen key
6. Screw the bracket onto the flex arm, then bend the arm to the desired position

The mount uses holes already present in the middle of your fixture's heatsink. That's what explains why compatibility depends on the exact model: not every Hydra has that drilling.

AquaIllumination specifies the Flex Arm for the Hydra 32HD in its technical documentation. For a Hydra 64HD, the mount officially listed by AquaIllumination is the HMS, which covers the Vega, Hydra, 26/HD, 52/HD, 32HD, and 64HD. If you're unsure, write to us with your exact model before ordering — we'll confirm it together.

Does the arm really hold its position?

Yes. The gooseneck keeps whatever position you bend it into, and the fixture is bolted to the heatsink via a back plate, not simply clipped on. The silicone sleeve covers the flexible portion: it protects the mechanism from saltwater splashes and gives a clean finish.

Can I use it on a rimless tank?

Yes, the clamp assembly is designed for both. That's exactly the Flex Arm's advantage over a hanging kit: it attaches directly to the glass, with nothing hooked to the ceiling and no drilling into the cabinet.
