Aquaforest Component B 2000 ml is a liquid trace metal supplement (cobalt, copper, chrome, manganese, zinc, nickel, iron) for marine aquariums.

Aquaforest gives 5 ml of Component B per 100 L (26.4 US gal) of water, once a week, in a mixed reef aquarium. For calcium, alkalinity and magnesium, Aquaforest offers Component 1+2+3+ instead.

What Aquaforest Component B is for

According to the Aquaforest page, the skimmer and filter media strip trace elements from the water of a closed system, which is why they have to be put back. The Aquaforest Component B formula follows the ratios found in natural seawater. The manufacturer states that these metals promote intense coral coloration. Aquaforest adds that the concentration of Component B keeps the risk of overdosing low, which makes it usable by a beginner.

Component B dosing given by Aquaforest

  • Mixed reef aquarium: 5 ml per 100 L (26.4 US gal) of water, once a week.
  • Based on calcium consumption: 1 ml for every 20 ppm per 100 L (26.4 US gal) of water.
  • Balling method: 20 ml per litre of Calcium solution.
  • With Components A and C: leave 5 minutes between each dose.
