Hydra Edge Mounting Kit — C Bracket 44HD, 68HD and HMS Single Arm - AquaIllumination
Available
Mounting a Hydra Edge isn't like mounting an ordinary Hydra. Because of its edge mounts and pivoting capability, the Hydra Edge requires an adapter kit to attach to HMS hardware. This page carries the three parts you need.
AquaIllumination is clear about it: existing HMS mounts do work with the Hydra Edge, but you'll need the corresponding adapter kit.
Which Part Do You Need?
Two decisions, in this order.
1. Which fixture do you have? The bracket is size-specific — there's one for the 44HD and a different one for the 68HD. They aren't interchangeable.
- C Bracket 44HD (HYDE44MK) — for Hydra Edge 44HD and 44HD Freshwater
- C Bracket 68HD (HYDE68MK) — for Hydra Edge 68HD
2. What are you mounting it to? The bracket is an adapter: it connects your Edge to the mount. So you also need the mount itself — the HMS Single Arm Kit, for example, also available here.
What Each Bracket Kit Contains
Every adapter kit includes two C brackets, letting you pick your mounting method:
- Rear mounting bracket: attaches to the HMS Single Arm Kit, enabling precise angle adjustments
- Top mounting bracket: secures to the HMS Single Arm Kit or HMS Rail, for flexible positioning that minimizes light spill
You use one or the other depending on your setup — both are in the box.
⚠️ One Adapter Per Fixture
AquaIllumination states it plainly: one adapter kit is needed per Hydra Edge. If you're mounting two Edges on one rail, you need two adapters. This is the most common ordering mistake on this line.
⚠️ The Flex Arm and the 68HD
An important point AquaIllumination's official mounting guide confirms: the Hydra Flex Arm doesn't suit the Hydra Edge 68HD. AI describes the Flex Arm as the simplest mount for the Edge 44HD — the 68HD isn't among its Flex Arm options.
If you have a 68HD, your options are HMS (with the 68HD bracket), a multi-light rail, or the Edge Hanging Kit.
HMS Single Arm Kit — Rimless Only
The HMS Single Arm Kit (HMSSA) is the mounting arm for a single fixture. Per AquaIllumination, it's designed for rimless tanks only, with glass up to 1.2in. (3cm) thick.
If your tank has a rim, this mount isn't for you — write us and we'll look at the other options together.
Reminder: the HMS Single Arm does not include the Edge adapter bracket. You need both.
The Other Mounting Routes
Per AquaIllumination's official guide:
- One fixture, rimless tank: HMS Single Arm Kit + adapter bracket
- Multiple fixtures: HMS 2 Arm Kit + HMS Rail (24, 36, 48, 60 or 72in.) + rail brackets + one adapter per fixture
- Multi-light suspension: HMS Hanging Kit + HMS Rail + one adapter per fixture
- Single-light suspension: the Edge Hanging Kit — all included, no adapter required
- Hybrid with Blades: HMS Hanging Kit + rail + adapter

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an adapter bracket to mount my Hydra Edge?
Yes, if you're using HMS hardware. AquaIllumination confirms existing HMS mounts work with the Hydra Edge, but because of the Edge's edge mounts and pivoting capability you need the size-appropriate adapter kit. The one exception is the Edge Hanging Kit, where everything is already included.
Does the 44HD bracket work with a Hydra Edge 68HD?
No. The adapter kits are size-specific: HYDE44MK for the 44HD (and the 44HD Freshwater), HYDE68MK for the 68HD. Check your model before ordering.
Does the Hydra Flex Arm work with a Hydra Edge 68HD?
No. AquaIllumination's official mounting guide doesn't list the Flex Arm as an option for the 68HD — AI describes it as the simplest mount for the Edge 44HD only. For a 68HD, go with HMS plus the 68HD bracket, a multi-light rail, or the Edge Hanging Kit.
How many adapters do I need for two Hydra Edge fixtures?
Two. AquaIllumination specifies that one adapter kit is needed per Hydra Edge. A multi-light rail lets you mount several fixtures, but each one needs its own adapter.
Does the HMS Single Arm Kit work on a rimmed tank?
No. AquaIllumination specifies this kit is for rimless tanks only, with glass up to 1.2in. (3cm) thick. If your tank has a rim, write us and we'll look at the other configurations together.
