Available

The Red Sea Coral Pro Salt 55 gal is the compact size of Red Sea's high-alkalinity reef salt at 12 dKH. This 7 kg bucket makes 210 liters (55 US gallons) of saltwater — the ideal size for nano reefs and for weekly water changes on small and mid-size tanks. Same formula as the large bucket: elevated, biologically balanced levels of calcium, magnesium and bicarbonates, plus the full complement of trace elements from salt harvested in the Red Sea.

Why the 55 gallon size

On a nano or small reef, a big bucket empties slowly — and salt that sits around absorbs humidity and clumps. The 7 kg size gets used up at a healthy pace, stores easily, and Red Sea specifically recommends keeping any unused salt in a tightly closed container such as its buckets. For bigger tanks or frequent water changes, the 175 gal bucket (22 kg makes 660 L) costs less per liter.

The boosted salt for coral growth

The precise calcium-magnesium-carbonate ratio established by Red Sea's research lets corals efficiently take up these elements and build a robust aragonite skeleton. Combined with Red Sea's reef care recipes, Coral Pro supports growth up to four times the natural rate. Its 12 dKH alkalinity makes it ideal for mixed reefs and SPS frag tanks. The improved formula dissolves in about 20 minutes. Each batch's guaranteed parameters are printed on the bucket and verifiable through Red Sea's MyBatch service using the barcode.

Red Sea's official mixing method

  • RO water only, at 20 °C (68 °F) or less; heat to tank temperature once the mix is clear.
  • Always add salt to water, never the other way around.
  • Mix with a submerged pump until fully dissolved — never more than 2 hours, and never bubble air into the mix.
  • Check salinity with a calibrated refractometer before adding to the tank.
  • Recommended water changes: 10% weekly, never exceeding 30% at once.
  • Coral Pro specific: do not store the mix for more than 12 hours — it precipitates and loses its elevated calcium and alkalinity levels. Mix it right before use.

Our advice

Despite the « Pro » in its name, we see Coral Pro as the salt for reefers who want to dose less and test less, with more moderate growth. It's a boosted salt: every water change tops up calcium, magnesium and alkalinity a little, keeping parameters acceptable without a dosing program. It's not perfect stability — it can create small spikes — so for that profile we recommend one water change per week with freshly mixed Coral Pro. For maximum stability with separate dosing, go with the blue bucket.

Why buy from ReefSolution

Authorized Red Sea dealer in Canada, with French and English support and in-store pickup in Laval. Shipping across Canada. Pairs well with: the Coral Pro 175 gal bucket for a better price per liter, the Red Sea Salt (blue bucket) if you're after stability with separate dosing, and the AquaticLife 100 GPD RO/DI unit for the RO water required for mixing.

Frequently asked questions

How much saltwater does the 55 gallon bucket make?

The bucket holds 7 kg of salt and makes 210 liters of saltwater — 55 US gallons — per the manufacturer's data.

Is the Coral Pro 55 gal right for a nano reef?

Yes — it's the size made for small volumes: the salt gets used before it absorbs humidity, and the 12 dKH alkalinity supports the weekly water changes that keep a nano's parameters in line without a dosing program.

Can I mix Coral Pro ahead of time?

Red Sea recommends not storing a Coral Pro mix for more than 12 hours: it precipitates and loses its elevated calcium and alkalinity levels. Mix it right before your water change.
