The Seapora media bag is the classic drawstring pouch for any loose filter media: activated carbon, zeolite, peat and whatever else your filter calls for. The manufacturer says it plainly: "fully reusable" thanks to its durable drawstring, and safe for freshwater, marine and even garden pond use — an application most people never think of. Three sizes: 5 x 3 in (12.7 x 7.6 cm), 8 x 6 in (20.3 x 15.2 cm) and 12 x 8 in (30.5 x 20.3 cm).

What goes in it

Seapora's official list covers carbon, zeolite, peat and resins — and the bag fits almost any kind of filter: sump, canister, hang-on-back. The 12 x 8 in XL easily swallows a bulk media like ESV granular activated carbon, and spherical granules like Seachem MatrixCarbon sit comfortably in it too.

Seapora publishes neither the mesh size nor the fabric material. If you see a micron figure somewhere, it didn't come from the manufacturer — and with no published mesh, we can't guarantee that a very fine media won't slip through. Seapora bags are good bags, easy to work with. You tie them off with the drawstring, and you can load them with carbon, resins — anything reasonably coarse. I don't recommend them for phosphate removers: there are too many microparticles, and it'll fly all over your aquarium.

What media can go in a drawstring bag?

Per Seapora: carbon, zeolite, peat, resins and any reasonably coarse loose media. It's the all-purpose bag of chemical filtration.

Can I put GFO or phosphate remover in it?

No — that's the drawstring bag's limit. Phosphate removers are full of microparticles that would slip through and end up in the tank. For those media, use a bag with a documented fine mesh like the Seachem Zip Bag.

Are Seapora bags washable and reusable?

Yes — "fully reusable" is the manufacturer's own claim. Rinse the bag between charges and the durable drawstring does the rest.
