The Heteractis aurora , or Pearl Anemone, is an Indo-Pacific species recognizable by its slender tentacles bearing regular bulges or "pearls." Less common in aquariums than Entacmaea quadricolor , it is best suited for experienced aquarists. It can house Amphiprion ocellaris and A. percula .
Requirements
- Lighting: very strong — minimum 200–300+ PAR
- Water flow: moderate, non-directional
- Temperature: 25–27°C stable — Salinity: 1.025–1.026 stable
- pH: 7.8–8.4 (normal natural day/night fluctuation in a reef tank)
- Alkalinity: 8–9 dKH — Calcium: 400–450 ppm
- Nitrates: <5 ppm — Very mature tank, minimum 12 months
Behavior
It moves around to find its ideal location. More sensitive to changes in water parameters than Entacmaea quadricolor . Stinging tentacles — keep away from corals.
Food
Feed 2–3 times per week with shrimp or carnivore food.
