Alkalinity Test Pro — Fast KH Test, 78-100 Measurements for Reef Tanks - Aquaforest

Aquaforest Alkalinity Test Pro — fast KH test with 78-100 measurements for reef
The Alkalinity Test Pro is Aquaforest's high-precision carbonate hardness (dKH) and alkalinity (meq/L) test, designed for demanding reef tanks. Colorimetric titration test with liquid reagent — it measures alkalinity across the useful hobby range (typically 6-14 dKH) with enough resolution to precisely drive KH Plus dosing, Balling, or the Components 1+2+3+ method.
Each kit contains enough reagent for about 78 to 100 measurements depending on sample concentration. Certified by ICP-OES reference and validated by Marinlab for reefers managing alkalinity to the decimal.
Using the Test Pro
- Frequency: weekly on a stable tank, two to three times a week on a tank being tuned.
- Timing: wait at least 5-6 h after a KH dose for a representative reading.
- Procedure: drop-by-drop reagent titration into the sample until color change.
- Precision: resolution enough to distinguish 0.1 dKH between two readings.
Alkalinity targets by reef regime
- SPS ULNS tanks: 6.5-8.0 dKH.
- Mixed-reef tanks: 7-9 dKH.
- LPS and soft coral tanks: 8-11 dKH.
- FOWLR fish tanks: 8-10 dKH.

Why choose Aquaforest at ReefSolution
- Test Pro Pack Ca-KH-Mg — the essential test trio in an economy pack for Ca + KH + Mg.
- Calcium Test Pro — the Ca test to run alongside alkalinity, since the two parameters are linked.
- KH Plus 250 ml — the adjustment solution to raise dKH after the test reading.
Frequently asked questions
How many measurements can I run with an Alkalinity Test Pro kit?
About 78 to 100 measurements depending on sample KH concentration — a diluted sample uses less reagent than a high-alkalinity sample. On an 8 dKH tank, expect about 90 tests before restocking.
How often should I test alkalinity on an SPS tank?
Aquaforest recommends a weekly reading on a stable tank. On a tank just starting dosing or after a salt change, two to three readings a week let you fine-tune the KH Plus, Components, or KH Buffer dose.
Is the Alkalinity Pro test compatible with meq/L units?
Yes — the kit supplies the dKH ↔ meq/L conversion. Reminder: 1 meq/L = 2.8 dKH. Some aquarists prefer meq/L for SI unit consistency, others dKH for intuitive reading. The test reads in both units.
