Aquaforest Component C 2000ml — Balling method magnesium solution for reef aquariums

Component C by Aquaforest is the magnesium solution of the three-part Balling system (also called Component 3+). Designed for reef aquariums, it maintains magnesium and includes Reef Mineral Salt (NaCl-free salt) that preserves the water's ionic balance. The 2 L size suits medium to large tanks dosing daily.

Composition and how it works

According to Aquaforest, Component C contains magnesium chloride at 3,300 ppm magnesium, NaCl-free Reef Mineral Salt, plus potassium and boron. It is dosed in equal parts with Component A (calcium) and Component B (KH alkalinity). The Reef Mineral Salt binds with the sodium chloride generated by dosing Components A and B, keeping salinity and ionic balance close to natural conditions — the true principle of the Balling method.

Recommended dosing

A tank with an average population of hard corals consumes about 25 ml of each component per 100 L per day. 25 ml of Component C per 100 L raises magnesium by about 0.38 ppm. Test calcium, KH and magnesium before starting, then again 24 h later, to establish consumption. Keep Ca 380-460 ppm and Mg 1180-1460 ppm.

Good to know

Component C should be dosed in the same proportion as Components A and B even if magnesium looks stable: it's the Reef Mineral Salt it delivers that balances the whole system. To adjust magnesium only, use Mg Plus instead.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between Component C and Component 3+?

They are the same product: Component C is the name of the magnesium and Reef Mineral Salt solution in Aquaforest's three-part Balling system.

Why dose Component C even if my magnesium is stable?

Because it delivers the Reef Mineral Salt that balances the ions generated by Components A and B. It is always dosed in equal parts with the other two.

Can I use a dosing pump?

Yes. The three-part Balling system works well with a three-head dosing pump, one per component.
