Astrea snail

Astrea snails ( Astraea spp.) are reliable and efficient surface cleaners in reef aquariums. Their conical shell and strong foot allow them to vigorously scrape algae from glass, rocks, and decorations. Slightly smaller than Turbo snails, but just as effective.
His role in the baccalaureate
Excellent consumers of filamentous, encrusting, and diatomaceous green algae on hard surfaces. Complementary to Cerith snails, which clean the substrate.
Recommended conditions
- Temperature: 22–26°C — Salinity: 1.023–1.026
- pH: 7.8–8.4 (normal natural day/night fluctuation in a reef tank)
- Alkalinity: 8–10 dKH — Calcium: 380–430 ppm
Behavior
Mostly active at night. May have difficulty righting themselves if they fall on their backs — supervise and intervene if necessary. Tendency to leave the litter box without a lid.
Dosage
1 per 8–10L for active algal control.
