Heat-activated bituminous charcoal-based pellets are specially formulated (do not damage the filter wheels) and much more effective than lower coconut, wood or peat-based carbon. And with the black diamond, you can also get more carbon. As much as 60% of other "pre-washed carbon weight" is water, not carbon. Black diamond contains moisture at less than 2%.
