Brightwell Restor — liquid tissue nutrition for coral growth and recovery

The Brightwell Restor delivers marine-source amino acids and fatty acids (EPA, DHA, omega-3) together with natural pigments and tocopherol. Formulated in the United States by Brightwell Aquatics, it is widely used by professional coral farms to accelerate tissue growth, support coloration, and help corals recovering from stress (lighting change, thermal shock, tissue repair after fragging).

Restor does not reverse an ongoing bleaching event, but supplies the nutrients zooxanthellae need to rebuild their population. Useful as a 4-week cure whenever stress is spotted, in target-feeding on hungry corals, or in food soaking before targeted feeding.

What Restor is for and when to use it

  • Post-fragging cure — accelerated healing and growth restart on frags right after cutting.
  • Post-bleaching recovery — nutritional support for zooxanthellae during their re-population of coral tissue.
  • Adjustment to new lighting — corals ramping up to higher light intensity.
  • Official Brightwell coloration trio — combined with CoralAminō (free-form amino acids) and KoralColor (biochromes).

Brightwell official use

  • Broadcast (whole tank): up to 5 mL per 50 US gal every 2 to 3 days for the first 4 weeks, then adjust to observed need.
  • Target feeding (preferred): pour 5 mL (1 capful) into a container, draw with syringe or pipette, dispense 2-4" upstream of target corals.
  • Food soaking: up to 5 mL of Restōr on the food, let sit 5 to 10 minutes, then target-feed.
  • Absolute limit: 5 mL total of liquid suspensions per 50 US gal daily for the first 4 weeks so biology can adjust.
  • Refrigeration is not required but recommended to maximize shelf life; shaded storage extends vitamin activity.

Frequently asked questions

Can Restor reverse coral bleaching?

No — Brightwell states that Restor does not directly reverse bleaching. The product supports zooxanthellae re-population by supplying the nutrients they need to recover. Combined with lighting, temperature, and parameter adjustments, it helps coloration come back.

How long does the Restor cure last on a frag?

Brightwell publishes 4 weeks minimum of progressive dosing: up to 5 mL per 50 US gal every 2 to 3 days broadcast, or target-fed on the frags. After 4 weeks, adjust to bioload and observed tank needs.

Does Restor need refrigeration?

Brightwell states refrigeration is not required but recommended to maximize an opened bottle's shelf life. Shaded storage extends vitamin activity. Heat quickly destroys unsaturated fatty acids — avoid a warm display shelf or a car in the sun.

Can Restor be used on softies and LPS, or only SPS?

Brightwell positions Restor as useful for all corals — SPS, LPS, and softies — thanks to its amino acid and marine fat composition not aimed at a single family. Target feeding works particularly well on open LPS (Duncan, Torch, Frogspawn) and open-polyp SPS.
