Cerith Snail

Cerith snails ( Cerithium spp.) are essential bottom cleaners in reef aquariums. These small, elongated, spiraled cone-shaped snails partially bury themselves in the sand to consume algae, cyanobacteria, diatoms, and decaying organic matter where other cleaners cannot reach.
His role in the baccalaureate
Specialized substrate cleaners — complementary to Turbo and Astrea (surface cleaners). They agitate and oxygenate the surface of the sand, preventing anoxic zones. A balanced cleaning pack combines both types.
Recommended conditions
- Temperature: 23–27°C — Salinity: 1.023–1.026
- pH: 7.8–8.4 (normal natural day/night fluctuation in a reef tank)
- Alkalinity: 8–10 dKH — Sandy substrate recommended
Behavior
Primarily nocturnal. Can partially bury themselves in the sand — normal. Easily right themselves. Very peaceful.
Dosage
1 per 2–4L of sandy substrate for efficient mixing.
