Liquid Carbonate Buffer — 2476 meq/L Alkalinity Booster 32 oz and 1 gal - ESV

ESV Liquid Carbonate Buffer is a one-component liquid additive that raises the alkalinity (KH) of your reef aquarium, with an alkalinity value of 2476 meq/L in the form of sodium bicarbonate and sodium carbonate.

When to use it

It's the right tool when calcium is already high (over 500 ppm): it only raises alkalinity and supplies no calcium. Once the calcium-alkalinity balance is restored, ESV recommends switching to B-Ionic Calcium Buffer or kalkwasser (calcium hydroxide) for regular maintenance.

Dosing

ESV does not publish a dosing chart on its product page. If you see a number elsewhere, it doesn't come from the manufacturer — write to us with your current KH and tank volume and we'll guide you.

Two sizes

• 32 oz (946 ml) — the bottle, for spot corrections.
• 1 gallon (3784 ml) — the jug, four times the volume for larger tanks.

A two-part adds calcium AND alkalinity. Liquid Carbonate Buffer raises alkalinity only — exactly what you want when calcium is already above 500 ppm.
