Margarita snails
Available
Margarita snails ( Margarites / Tegula spp.) are small cleaning snails particularly well-suited to temperate to cold reef aquariums and nano-reefs. Their small, spherical, pearly shell and great agility allow them to access narrow areas inaccessible to Turbo snails—between corals, in thin rock crevices, and on vertical walls.
His role in the baccalaureate
Effective surface cleaners for filamentous algae, diatoms, and encrusting algae in confined spaces. Ideal as a complement to Turbo and Astrea in tanks with a lot of rocky terrain.
Recommended conditions
- Temperature: 20–24°C — Cold-water species: sensitive to high temperatures. Prolonged exposure above 25°C results in rapid mortality.
- Salinity: 1.023–1.026
- pH: 7.8–8.4 (normal natural day/night fluctuation in a reef tank)
Important: Margarita snails are cold-water snails. They are not suitable for warm tropical tanks (26–27°C). Ideal for tanks maintained at 22–24°C.
Behavior
Highly agile — they climb on all surfaces. Active day and night. Peaceful and harmless.
