The EXT Hanging Kit suspends an AI Sol or AI Vega lighting module above your aquarium, using 96 inch (8 foot) adjustable cables.

This is a previous-generation part. Here's the straight story on what that means.

⚠️ Read This Before Ordering

Two things to know, and we'd rather tell you now than have you disappointed when the box arrives:

1. EXT rails are required and sold separately. This kit only works with EXT rails. We don't stock them, and because the EXT system is a previous generation, we can't order them either. If you already have your rails, great. If not, this kit won't do anything for you.

2. It's a legacy part. The AI Sol and AI Vega left AquaIllumination's catalog years ago, and so did the EXT system. We have one unit, and when it's gone it won't be replaced.

Who It's For

One specific person: someone still running an AI Sol or AI Vega, who already has EXT rails, and wants to move from a tank mount to suspension — or replace a worn kit.

If that's you: these parts have become hard to find in Canada. This one is new, in the box, in Laval.

What the Kit Does

Combined with EXT rails, it lets you hang one or several fixtures above the tank. The 96 inch adjustable cables let you pick the height — 8 feet covers just about any residential ceiling.

The advantage of suspension is the same in 2012 as in 2026: your tank rim stays clear, and you tune the fixture height instead of living with it.

A Note on Sourcing — We'll Be Straight With You

AquaIllumination no longer documents the EXT system on its site. The specs above (96 inch cables, rails in black and silver, AI Sol and Vega compatibility) come from CoralVue, AquaIllumination's distributor — not from the manufacturer directly.

Some distribution sources also mention Hydra HD compatibility through EXT rails. We haven't confirmed that with AquaIllumination, so we won't claim it. If that's your situation, write us before ordering and we'll look at it together.
