AquaticLife Smart Buddie pompe de surpression booster 50-100 GPD osmoseur RO/DI Buddie Fit

AquaticLife Smart Buddie — 50-100 GPD RO/DI Booster Pump with Buddie Fit Connections

$219.99

Indisponible

The Smart Buddie 2nd Generation is AquaticLife's booster pump for 50-100 GPD RO and RO/DI systems. It boosts inlet pressure up to 80 PSI and higher, which restores the membrane's rated output, cuts waste water by up to 65%, extends RO membrane life, and reduces DI resin consumption. Compatible with most home RO systems on the market. This generation now includes an internal check valve and each unit is water-tested at the factory prior to packaging.

Here are three official videos from the AquaticLife YouTube channel, all listed directly on the manufacturer's Smart Buddie product page. They cover the general presentation, installation on a Classic RO/DI system, and a full demonstration.

Why a Booster Pump Changes Everything on an RO System

Reverse osmosis is a pressure-driven process. AquaticLife documents the real-world pressure ranges:

  • Under 45 PSI: output drops sharply and water quality is compromised (TDS rejection rate falls).
  • 60 PSI (typical municipal pressure): the system runs well.
  • 80 PSI and above: optimal operation - maximum output, highest TDS rejection, less waste water down the drain.

A booster pump is therefore essential in two scenarios: when home pressure is low (below 50 PSI), or when you want to maximize performance on a system already at municipal pressure.

Kit Contents

  • Smart Buddie pump with internal check valve.
  • Low-voltage transformer.
  • 6 low-profile 90 degree elbows for compact plumbing.
  • Standard 1/4 in. tubing (color-coded blue / yellow / red for organized installation).

Built-In Features

  • Automatic flush valve: automatically flushes the membrane for 18 seconds each time the unit activates, extending membrane life by preventing deposit buildup.
  • High pressure switch: stops the pump when the reservoir is full (high outlet pressure), protects the pump from overload.
  • Low pressure switch: stops the pump if supply pressure becomes too low, protects the pump from running dry.
  • Internal check valve: prevents product water from flowing back to the membrane, protects the system.

The 4 Status LEDs on Top of the Unit

The Smart Buddie continuously displays its status through 4 color-coded LEDs:

  • LACK: supply pressure is insufficient - check faucet, tubing or saturated prefilter.
  • FLUSH: automatic flush cycle in progress (18 seconds).
  • FULL: reservoir full or high pressure switch triggered - pump stopped.
  • FILTER: pump is filtering normally, RO production in progress.

Compatibility (AquaticLife Recommendation)

The Smart Buddie 50-100 GPD is explicitly compatible with:

  • AquaticLife RO Buddie (540016, 540017, 540019).
  • AquaticLife Classic 100 GPD RO/DI.
  • AquaticLife Twist-In RO and RO/DI (540370, 540371, 540372, 540346).
  • Other brands - APEC, LiquaGen, SpectraPure and most home 50-100 GPD RO systems.

This pump is calibrated for 50-100 GPD systems. For a 150 GPD, 200 GPD or larger system, use the Smart Buddie 200 GPD (AL660730) sized for that higher flow rate.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I need a booster pump?

Measure the pressure at your RO unit with a pressure gauge. Below 45 PSI, RO output is low and water quality compromised. Between 45 and 60 PSI, the system works but a boost clearly improves performance. Above 80 PSI, a booster is optional but can still improve rejection rate.

Does the booster work with the RO Buddie?

Yes. AquaticLife explicitly confirms compatibility with RO Buddie models (540016, 540017, 540019). The Smart Buddie is specifically designed for small 50-100 GPD systems like the RO Buddie.

Can I use this pump on a 150 GPD or larger system?

Not recommended. The Smart Buddie 50-100 GPD is calibrated for that range. For a larger system (150-200 GPD), use the Smart Buddie 200 GPD (Item 660730) sized for higher flow.

Is the pump noisy?

Per AquaticLife, the Smart Buddie is described as "quiet" (low-noise operation). It's not absolutely silent, but noise stays discreet - comparable to a small refrigerator heard from a distance. Most users install it in a utility room or laundry room.

What do the 4 LEDs on top mean?

The LEDs show the system status in real time: LACK (insufficient supply pressure), FLUSH (automatic flush cycle in progress), FULL (reservoir full, pump stopped), FILTER (normal RO production in progress). One glance is enough to know what the pump is doing.

Does the pump raise the TDS of produced water?

No, the opposite. By increasing pressure, the pump improves the RO membrane's rejection rate - fewer contaminants pass through, and outlet TDS drops. This is one of the major measurable benefits with an in-line TDS meter.
