Brightwell AminŌmega — amino acid and omega supplement for enriching fish and invertebrate food

The Brightwell AminŌmega is a concentrated food enricher that delivers marine-sourced amino acids together with highly unsaturated omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids (HUFA). Formulated by Brightwell Aquatics in the United States, it is designed to boost the nutritional value of marine fish and invertebrate food — not to be poured directly into the aquarium.

Brightwell warns clearly on the label: AminŌmega is a concentrated product that must not be overdosed or added directly to aquarium water; doing so may cause water quality to deteriorate. The product contains no shark-derived ingredients.

What AminŌmega is for and when to use it

  • Fortifying prepared food — flakes, pellets, gel diets, and homemade purees that gain in amino-acid profile and HUFA before feeding.
  • Enriching liquid suspensions — liquid coral and invertebrate foods, into which AminŌmega goes just before dispensing.
  • Enriching live prey — brine shrimp, live mysis, rotifers that are boosted before being served to picky fish or fry.
  • Supporting an SPS/LPS diet — a complement to filter-feeder-based coral feeding that avoids polluting the water column the way direct dosing would.

Brightwell official use

  • Prepared food: place the food in a clean container and add only enough AminŌmega to saturate it. Allow at least 5 minutes to elapse before feeding.
  • Liquid food suspensions: add 0.5 mL (approximately 4 drops) of AminŌmega per 10 mL of suspension.
  • Live prey: add 1 drop of AminŌmega per quart (0.95 L) of enrichment-vessel water, stir gently to disperse the droplets, and allow 20 to 40 minutes for the organisms to consume them. Strain the prey with a fine-mesh net before feeding.
  • Prohibited: no direct aquarium dosing — Brightwell states this may cause water quality to deteriorate.

Frequently asked questions

Can AminŌmega be dosed directly to the aquarium?

No — Brightwell states this explicitly on the official product page: AminŌmega is a concentrated product that must not be overdosed or added directly to aquarium water. Direct dosing may cause water quality to deteriorate. The product is intended exclusively to enrich food before it is fed to fish or invertebrates.

How much AminŌmega does it take to enrich a liquid suspension?

Brightwell publishes a precise ratio: 0.5 mL (approximately 4 drops) of AminŌmega per 10 mL of liquid food suspension. For solid prepared food, the brand instead recommends saturating the food in a clean container and letting it sit at least 5 minutes before serving.

How do I enrich live brine shrimp or mysis with AminŌmega?

Brightwell states: 1 drop of AminŌmega per quart (0.95 L) of enrichment-vessel water. Stir gently to disperse the droplets, then let sit 20 to 40 minutes. Strain the live prey with a fine-mesh net before feeding — undissolved droplets must not end up in the aquarium.

Does AminŌmega contain shark-derived ingredients?

No — Brightwell states the product contains no shark-derived ingredients. The marine lipid source is declared as coming from marine fish and crustaceans.
