Red Sea PSU 24VDC 2.5A — Replacement Power Supply REEFER DC Skimmer & ReefRun 5500 - Red Sea
Available
The Red Sea PSU 24VDC 2.5A (part number R35575) is the original power supply that feeds the DC pumps in the ReefBeat ecosystem. It's the replacement part to order if yours has died, or the second power supply you need if you're adding a second DC device to your ReefRun Dual Controller.
Compatibility
Red Sea specifies this power supply for:
- PSK-DC pump — the PSK DC-1200 pump fitted to the REEFER DC Skimmer 300, 600, and 900, as well as the REEFER Skimmer DC Pump Upgrade Kit
- ReefRun 5500 return pump (G1 generation)
For ReefRun G2 pumps (4000, 6000, 8000, 12000), Red Sea does not specify this power supply — they ship with their own. Contact us before ordering if you're looking for a power supply for a G2 and we'll confirm the correct part with the manufacturer.
How to tell if the power supply is actually the problem
Before ordering a $100 part, run this 10-second test. On the ReefRun Dual Controller, each pump port has a status LED:
- Solid red — the pump power supply is connected and working. Your problem is elsewhere: scaled-up pump, blocked impeller, control cable, or a setting in ReefBeat.
- No red light — the controller detects no power supply on that port. Check the wall outlet and the cable connections first. If everything is plugged in and the LED stays off, the power supply needs replacing.
Note: intensity LEDs blinking at 20%, 30%, 80%, and 90% signal a pump malfunction (stalled or out of the water), not a power supply issue.
Specifications
- Output: 24 VDC, 2.5 A
- Part number: R35575 (RSR35575)
- Compatibility: PSK-DC pump (REEFER DC Skimmer 300 / 600 / 900 and Upgrade Kit), ReefRun 5500 G1 pump
- Installation: indoor use only, away from splashes
- Connection: the PSU connector on the control cable attaches to the power supply's outlet cable, then the AC cable goes to the wall outlet
Red Sea states in its manuals that these devices are to be used only with the power supply provided by the manufacturer. A generic supply at the same voltage is not a substitute: the connector, the regulation, and the protection are not the same.
Why choose ReefSolution

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this power supply work with my REEFER DC skimmer?
Yes. The REEFER DC Skimmer 300, 600, and 900 all use the same PSK DC-1200 pump, and this is the power supply specified for that pump. The same applies if you converted an AC skimmer with the REEFER Skimmer DC Pump Upgrade Kit — it's the same pump.
Can I use a generic 24V power supply instead?
No. Red Sea specifies that its devices are to be used only with the supplied power supply. The connector is proprietary, and the ReefRun Dual Controller expects a specific supply in order to identify the pump and manage its intensity. A supply from another manufacturer, even at the right voltage, risks damaging the pump or the controller.
Do I need one power supply per device?
Yes. The ReefRun Dual Controller drives two devices, but each pump has its own power supply. Red Sea's connection diagram clearly shows one power supply per port. The controller itself does not feed current to the pumps — it commands them.
